Russell championed the planning initiatives that established AllianceTexas as a global logistics hub – the nation’s first inland port complete with multimodal transportation for ground, rail and air needs. His success in building public-private partnerships to deliver significant projects, combined with diverse expertise in long-term infrastructure development, mobility innovation, external/governmental affairs, and economic development, has been instrumental in the development's growth. In addition to his responsibilities at AllianceTexas, Russell is actively involved in all development activities for Frisco Station, a 242-acre, high-density, mixed-use community in Frisco, Texas.

Russell is actively involved in several professional affiliations, including leadership roles on the boards of the Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition, Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Region C Water Planning Board, and Northern Trinity Groundwater Conservation District. Russell is also involved with the Texas Health Resources Foundation, Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council, and Urban Land Institute.
