Hillwood in the Community

Hillwood in the Community

Hillwood is committed to being strong stewards throughout the North Texas community. As we enter the holiday season and close out 2023, we reflect and give thanks. This year, we partnered with several amazing organizations impacting our community for the good.

Here are a few highlights:

Next-Generation influencers.

Mike Berry, president of Hillwood, celebrated his 35th year at Hillwood in a special way. He gifted a scholarship to seven exceptional students from the inaugural class of the AllianceTexas Student Influencers program.

The AllianceTexas Student Influencers, hand-selected each year from three local school districts, become immersed in all things AllianceTexas during a one-of-a-kind, 12-month program. Students learn and collaborate with local businesses gaining valuable real-life experience while informing employers about the future workforce.

“It’s vital to support the next generation’s leaders,” Berry said. “Each group is incredibly talented and driven, and I’m glad we’re able to help these members from our inaugural class continue to reach their dreams.”

A force for good.

Lt. Col. Dan Rooney was the keynote speaker at the latest cityCURRENT Signature Speaker Series. Hillwood partnered with Higginbotham to host the event. Rooney, a decorated F-16 fighter pilot, is best known for founding Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military service members and first responders. Since its inception in 2007, the foundation has provided nearly 44,000 scholarships totaling more than $200 million. The Hillwood event raised another $70,000 for scholarships.

Supporting our future flyers.

For the third consecutive year, Ross Perot, Jr. and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) teamed up with Northwest ISD’s Academy of Aeronautics and Aviation Sciences to provide scholarships for students pursuing careers as pilots or aircraft maintenance technicians.

“This scholarship program reflects North Texas’ strong aviation heritage,” said Ross Perot, Jr., founder and chairman of Hillwood. “It will help feed the future skilled labor of the aviation partners at AllianceTexas and throughout the region.”

Gathering for a cause.

The women of AllianceTexas gathered for the inaugural Women in Business brunch to discuss personal growth and well-being in support of the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk held on Sept. 30 in Fort Worth - bringing together Hillwood associates and AllianceTexas customers for a worthy community cause.

Hole in one.

Hillwood sponsored the Charles Schwab Challenge, partnering with the Military Warriors Support Foundation to honor a deserving veteran. This year, wounded hero Joe Sielski and his wife were gifted the keys to a new, mortgage-free home.

The Military Warriors Support Foundation serves our nation’s combat-wounded veterans, Gold Star spouses, and their families. Learn more about their efforts: https://militarywarriors.org/
