The Connect September 2025
Setting the Stage for a New Era of Film & Television
In a landmark partnership with SGS Studios and Paramount Television, Hillwood has launched a 450,000-square-foot production campus at AllianceTexas, which is now the largest operating studio in Texas. With a business-friendly climate and competitive film incentives, Texas is rapidly emerging as a global hub for media and entertainment.
Founded by visionary creator Taylor Sheridan, SGS Studios will operate the campus and oversee all production services, bringing large-scale film and television projects to North Texas. Developed in collaboration with Paramount Television and 101 Studios, the team behind Yellowstone and Landman, the state-of-the-art facility is designed to support four simultaneous productions.
Sheridan commented on the campus, saying, “SGS Studios isn’t just about sound stages or incentives — it’s about reclaiming the independence and grit that built this industry in the first place. Texas offers something rare: the space to dream big, the freedom to build fast, and a community that still believes storytelling matters. Ross, Mike and the entire team at Hillwood are truly exceptional partners, and we are building something permanent that will be the centerpiece for one of the most state-of-the-art studios in the business.”
The partners share a bold vision: to position Texas as a premier destination for content creation, offering filmmakers a wide range of visual backdrops — from sweeping ranchlands to urban skylines — supported by a lower cost of doing business and rapidly growing infrastructure.
The two-building campus, SGS 1 and SGS 2, features fully HVAC-equipped and power-optimized facilities, integrating sound stages, mill space, wardrobe and green screen capabilities into a single operational footprint. Filming began in March 2025 with the second season of Landman generating over 3,800 local jobs.
Mike Berry, president of Hillwood, highlighted the regional impact: "We are at a pivotal moment where Texas can become a global force in the film industry, and North Texas offers the location and resources to play a central role in this development. We have the infrastructure in place to grow jobs exponentially and produce thousands of future film industry workers, and with our partners, we have already started providing training at Tarrant County College for the specialty skills this sector requires. Doing this will allow us to further diversify North Texas' economic impact and long-term success."
