Tom Harris has been an integral team member in the development of AllianceTexas, the 17,000-acre mixed-use, master-planned community in North Texas. Throughout his career, Harris has developed a keen eye for understanding and meeting the customers’ needs. He focuses on creating relationships that improve processes and efficiency for the companies located at AllianceTexas.
Harris played a key role in the development of Fort Worth Alliance Airport, the world’s first industrial airport. As a lead member of Hillwood’s Alliance Aviation Services, he worked to establish and grow the airport’s Fixed Base Operation, which has earned the ExxonMobil PremierSpirit Gold Award for outstanding customer service every year since it opened.
Harris currently directs Hillwood Properties’ Operations and Administration in the development of AllianceTexas. Harris oversees the activities and operations in managing the project’s 17,000 acres and over 170 corporate residents. These activities include property management, land management, air cargo business development, community relations, office administration, security, special events and association activities.
A key role Harris also directs is the development and growth of Alliance Operating Services, which offers a wide array of services to AllianceTexas corporate residents. Among one of the many services Hillwood has developed to meet the needs of its customers, Alliance Operating Services provides third-party logistics, foreign trade zone services, air cargo build/break, warehousing, fulfillment, assembly and light manufacturing, document storage, archival services and computer backup. Alliance Operating Services also operates a Centralized Examination Station for U.S. Customs Inspections.
Before joining Hillwood, Harris served as manager of operations and maintenance for the City of Austin Aviation Department. He additionally worked at airports in Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin, where he earned valuable management experience in overseeing LSG/SkyChefs airline catering activities for several major airlines.
Harris serves on the Industry Advisory Board of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center and the University of Texas at Arlington’s Automation and Robotics Research Institute (ARRI’s) program. He is a member of the American Association of Airport Executives and serves on the Airports Council International North American Cargo Committee. He is past chairman of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce North Area Council Board of Directors, a member of the Fort Worth Rotary Club and a graduate of Leadership Fort Worth.
Harris is past Chairman of the First Candle/SIDS Alliance Board of Directors, a nonprofit organization formed to increase community awareness and raise research funds for a cure or prevention of SIDS, stillbirth and other infant loss. He is also the founder of the North Texas First Candle SIDS affiliate.
Harris is a member of the Birdville Independent School District's Bond Oversight Committee and a member of the district's Education Foundation Board of Directors.
Harris is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
